Gdynia Aquarium Here it is possible to see the flora and fauna of the world's seas and oceans gathered in aquariums, show - cases, dioramas plus plastic expositions of the Baltic's syncline. The Aquarium is in the building of the Marine Fisheries Institute which has been in operation since 1921 (initially in Hel, since 1938 in Gdynia), dealing with fishing biology, oceanography, marine environment and fisheries economics. Its name comes from Antoni Abraham, the great Kashubian advocate of the Polish provenance of Pomerania. He spent here the last days of his life. Today part of Gdynia City Museum. She is 114 m long, and 11,5 m wide. The exposition is composed of three parts: the deck with artillery und submarine guns, the engine rooms and a historic exhibition displaying the history of Polish armed forces on the sea and the traditions of the Polish Navy. The sightseeing route starts at midships and then leads through one of the steam boilers, an attraction not to be experienced anywhere else.Al. In 1930 it was bought for the money raised by the Pomeranian nation. She was in the service of the Marine College for 50 years and in 1972 she won all possible prizes in The Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races. She is a three-mast full rigger with a 72,6 m long and 16,6 m wide hull; the masts are 41,4 m tall, the sails surface is about 2 thousand square m. After she retired, the ship was presented with the Central Marine Museum and has been open to public since 1983. The successor of the White Frigate is equally beautiful „Dar Młodzieży", which moors just behind „Dar Pomorza" when she returns from her voyages. Al.
