TWINNING COOPERATIONGdynia attempts to develop its international relations; among others, by signing cooperation agreements with twin cities. These agreements assume cooperation in various fields: culture, sport, education, tourism, healthcare, transport, administration, and economy etc. According to objectives included in "Strategic Plan for Gdynia", the city established the Baltic Ring of Gdynia Twin Cities, being a network of partners which are located in the Baltic Sea Region and which signed twinning agreements with Gdynia. Entering into a similar agreement in 2001 with the Estonian city of Kunda completed the process of creating this network. The existence of the Baltic Ring of Gdynia Twin Cities allows for Gdynia's active participation in network projects as well as EU development programmes. Gdynia cooperates with the following 15 twin partners: Agreementssigned1976 - 2006WebsitesAalborg (Denmark)04 08 1987http://www.aalborg.dk/Baranovichi (Belarus)06 02 1993 http://www.baranovichi.by/ Brooklyn (New York, USA)14 02 1991http://www.brooklyn-usa.org/Kaliningrad (Russia)27 10 1994http://www.klgd.ru/Karlskrona (Sweden)09 11 1990http://www.karlskrona.se/Kiel (Germany)25 06 1985 http://www.kiel.de/Klaipeda (Lithuania)12 01 1993http://www.klaipeda.lt/Kotka (Finland)09 03 1988http://www.kotka.fi/Kristiansand (Norway)21 09 1991http://www.kristiansand.no/Kunda (Estonia)24 02 2001http://www.kunda.ee/Liepaja (Latvia)12 10 1999 http://www.liepaja.lv/Plymouth (Great Britain)11 09 1976http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/Seattle (USA)23 04 1994 http://www.seattle.gov/Syndicat Mixte de la Côte d'Opale (France) 25 11 2004http://www.sm-cote-opale.fr/Haikou (China)24 04 2006http://www.haikou.gov.cn Friendship towns Rustavi (Georgia) 29 03 2010(letter of intent) http://www.rustavi.ge Zhuhai (China) 10 06 2013 (letter of intent) http://www.zhuhai.gov.cn Opublikowano: 25.07.2007 00:00 Autor: Monika Pawlińska (monika.pawlinska@gdynia.pl)
