A Professor of Economics, Head of the Chair of Economics and Management of Transportation Companies at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk. His research focuses on transport economics, particularly as regards the mechanisms of management of transportation companies and the theory of the enterprise with emphasis on the diagnosis of economic processes and behaviour of business entities in extreme and incidental situations. He is a member of scientific societies: the Polish Economic Society and the Section for Transport of the Polish Academy of Sciences.He is an author and co-author of about 30 books and handbooks, numerous articles, research and development projects, commissioned studies and expert opinions, papers and reviews. He is an economic consultant to several dozen companies and institutions, especially in the sectors of transport and municipal services, as well local government units. He has been honoured with the Gold Badge of the Polish Economic Society. In 2004, Professor Szałucki and his team were awarded the Prize of the Minister of National Education and Sports. He has been granted several awards by the Rector of the University of Gdańsk. He was awarded with the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of Gdynia in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the municipality. In 2010, he was awarded with the Gold Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland for activities in the fields of local community, development of democracy and local governance, achievements in professional and social work undertaken for the benefit of the country.Professor Szałucki has been the City Treasurer since January 2015. He is married and has three children.
