Parks & Reserves

Tricity Landscape Park
Created in 1979, the overall surface is 20,104 ha and covers part of the morainic plateau cut by many erosion borne scenic valleys of beautiful geomorphologic shapes. The dominating forest clusters are beech and oak trees and ground grasses. There are numerous nature reserves and features within the administration border of the city of Gdynia.

The Kępa Redłowska Reserve

Created in 1938, with a surface area of 118.16 ha it is a landscape reserve between Orłowo and Kamienna Góra, making it one of the oldest nature reserves in Poland. Its aim is to preserve the natural beech forest and specimens of Swedish whitebeam. It makes an outstanding beauty spot on the coast, providing a panorama over the Gulf of Gdańsk from the cliff and also the opportunity to observe the phenomenon of sea erosion.

The Kacze Łęgi Reserve

A forest-and-flora reserve created in 1983 in the valley of the Kacza stream over the surface area of 8.97 ha. It covers a length of the stream with a small tributary and a well preserved fragment of the riverside woods containing magnificent trees and many feature trees. The reserve preserves the remains of the former flora of river valleys (riparian elm) in a form typical of plants overgrowing bottoms of small rivers.

The Cisowa Reserve

A forest reserve of 24.76 ha surface, created in 1983 for the purpose of preserving fragments of beech woods and ash-alder riverside woods including rare and protected plants..

Cliffs

Cliffs are the most interesting natural structures occurring only on the coast. Those unique phytocenoses were shaped by specific habitat conditions giving way to abundant plant species many of which are rare and protected. Active cliffs, the Redłowo Cliff in particular (60 m high), make a precious source of geological information and are very scenic.

Kamienna Góra - a garden city

The complex covers the area of the Kamienna Góra district and comprises a park, cliff escarpments facing the Gulf of Gdańsk and a colony of villas dating back to the inter-war period. The area is covered in greenery, much of which is made of natural woods. The dominating tree species are beech, maple, oak, cherry, rowans and hornbeams. In addition there are also ornamental trees and plants such as ash-leaf maple tree, taxopodium, thuia, yew and juniper.

Manor-and-Park Complex

Located at Folwarczna Street No. 2 in Orłowo. The surrounding wood is mainly beech, maple, hornbeams, alders, willows, yews and poplars. There are also imported species of horse-chestnuts, Douglas spruce and false acacia. There are two natural features (horse-chestnuts) and many trees of huge sizes (e.g. a 35 cm diameter beech).

Kolibki Manor-and-Park Complex

Located at Al. Zwycięstwa No. 291 (Orłowo-Kolibki). It is composed of a group of buildings and the so-called Mary's Park (Park Marysieńki). At present it houses a riding school and the Municipal Guard's horse stables. The park is full of domestic trees (maple tree, common beech, English oak, small-leaf lime, European ash and sycamore) with some additional imported species (horse-chestnut). In the eastern part of the park there is a very old specimen of European ash which is of 173 cm diameter.
