Gdynia marine

Gdynia is the only city in Poland and one of the few in Europe with a long and easily accessible coastline (12.5 km less the port area). The Marina, the biggest one in Poland for about 200 boats can host 50-60 visiting yachts of up to 20 m length. The Marina was constructed in 1937 as a finishing touch of the brand new Gdynia Port built within 11 years (land surface of 5 thousand ha and 335 ha of water area).

Major yachting projects are launched in Gdynia. It has hosted the Tall Ships Races three times (in 2003 awarded with the Honorary Award by the Polish Yachting Association for perfect organization). In 2009, Gdynia will again, for the fourth time, play host to the beautiful tall ships' fleet. The greatest yachting event in Central Europe, the Gdynia Sailing Days, is held here. The main event, however, is the World Cup Olympic Regatta.

Each June the citizens of this city celebrate the "Marine Festival" which attracts many international tourists.

There is a fleet of ferries which take tourists to the Hel Peninsula, to Sopot, Gdańsk, Krynica Morska or around the port. Water taxis are also available.

There is an offer for active pastime - diving expeditions to the wrecks in the Gulf of Gdańsk, angling trips, diving courses and motor boat driving lessons.
